CIAO! I'm Chelsea! I'm a messy artist, the founder of Sketchy Notions, an art retreat host, a published author (x3) and art instructor! 

I'm a Southern California native that studied art at the University of Texas at Austin. My emphasis was in printmaking and bookmaking. While at school I started writing and illustrating my own children's books. I was also lucky enough to study abroad in Tuscany one summer, which led to many more adventures...

On the day of my graduation from UT, I hopped back on a plane and headed back to my Tuscan home, Castiglion Fiorentino. I spent about 2 years there learning Italian, washing dishes, wrangling hordes of college students, being a nanny for a sweet Italian family and even studying tattooing.

Now I'm back in California teaching for Arts Outreach and building videos for Skillshare, plotting my next adventure, and filling Sketchy Notions with new colorful and cheerful stationery. I also lead art retreats through Tuscany with my other business, Wanderful Retreats! 

This blog is where I share my travels, sketchbooks, new shop additions and behind the scenes peeks at my art lessons and custom creations.
